Why am I not having my treatment through the NHS?
Since January 2004 and the introduction of the government National Choice Agenda, patients now have a choice to elect to have their surgical procedure undertaken by different service providers. NWS provides an independent option, an alternative to the traditional NHS hospital.
NHS treatment in private hospitals... what is the catch?
There is no catch. It is for you to decide where you would like to have your treatment performed. If you have selected NWS as your preferred provider of healthcare then you will be able to access this service free of charge. There will be no cost to you. The PCT commissions many services from a range of providers; one such provider could be NWS, independently funded by the NHS.
Who will perform my surgery?
All surgical procedures offered by NWS are undertaken by consultants who have full accreditation in both independent and National Health hospitals. In fact it may be the case that you would be treated by the same consultant through the NHS and through NWS.
How can NWS guarantee quality?
NWS works in partnership with accredited NHS and Independent Providers to ensure high quality, patient-centred elective surgery. All procedures follow individualised care pathways for each patient, in support of the Department of Health choice initiative.
